La Unión Europea ha anunciado este viernes que investigará si la nueva política de privacidad de Google se ajusta a las normas comunitarias sobre protección de datos.
La UE ha reclamado al buscador estadounidense que no aplique los cambios hasta recibir el visto bueno de Bruselas.
"Pedimos una pausa hasta que hayamos completado nuestro análisis con el objetivo de garantizar que no haya malentendidos sobre los compromisos de Google con los derechos de información de sus usuarios y los ciudadanos de la UE", señala una carta remitida al consejero delegado de la compañía, Larry Page, por el grupo que reúne a los expertos en protección de datos de los Veintisiete.
"Queremos verificar las posibles consecuencias (de los cambios) para la protección de los datos personales de los ciudadanos en un procedimiento coordinado", prosigue la misiva. La investigación estará coordinada por la autoridad francesa de protección de datos.
La comisaria de Justicia, Viviane Reding, que respaldo públicamente en un principio el cambio en la política de privacidad de Google, ha pedido a las autoridades de protección de datos de los Veintisiete que "verifiquen que la legislación de la UE se respete plenamente" con los cambios.
